Expedition to Mt. Dhaulagiri is a spectacular journey equally adventurous and challenging. Mount Dhaulagiri, at 8167 meters, is the seventh-highest mount in the world. It’s often named as the ‘White Mountain’ after the meaning of its Nepali name. In Sanskrit, Dhawala meaning the beautiful white dazzle and giri means mountain. Hence, as per its name, the massif is a dazzling creation you’ll ever see in your life.
The whole Dhaulagiri massif in Nepal extends upto 120 km in the north from Kaliganadaki River to Bheri River & Myagdi Khola. The massif also is also near to other popular mount ranges like Annapurna. Hence, you can expect to witness the whole rage of majestic mountains via this expedition.
More about the Mt. Dhaulagiri expedition, it was first climbed by the Swiss/Nepali/Austrian team on 13th May 1960. The team was lead by Max Eiselin along with Kurt Diemberger, Peter Diener, Nawang Dorje Sherpa, and others. Since then, there had been 358 successful ascents as of 2007 records. But the number has definitely risen to date as the climbers & travelers from around the world opt to explore this exceptional mountain.
With that said, there are five massifs in the Dhaulagiri range named Dhaulagiri I, II, III, IV, and V. Amongst them, Dhaulagiri I is the highest one with 8167m while Dhaulagiri II, at 7751m, is the 30th highest peak in the world. In our expedition, we’ll be heading to Dhaulagiri I by following the northeast ridge route. But, in the past several climbs have been made from various directions too.
Thus, Mt. Dhaulagiri Expedition is the extreme adventure a professional climber is looking for.
