Chulu East and Chulu West are two gorgeous peaks popular for climbing in the Annapurna region. Both of them being part of Chulu offers a beautiful view of the region and panoramic view of towering peaks.
You get the closest view of higher Himalayas like Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, and more. Likewise, the wholesome view of the Manang valley from the top will take your breath away.
Chulu East Peak Climbing and Chulu West Peak climbing are two different peak climbing challenges. You can opt for any one of them according to your choice. If you are willing you can take on both peaks in one go too. Both of them are sky-touching elegant peaks, However, Chulu East lying south-east of Chulu is comparatively higher than Chulu West. Chulu East stands at 6584m while Chulu West stands at 6429m.
The journey to Chulu begins with a scenic drive to Jagat via Besisahar. On the way there, you can enjoy the mesmerizing view of green ridges and glimpses of Annapurna massif. After you start walking from Jagat, you shall pass via dense forests of pine, fir, oak, and other natural vegetation. Basically, you will be following the trail of Annapurna Circuit Trek. Hence, you will walk past villages like Dharapani, Chame, Pisang, and Manang. You will acclimatize at Manag for a day or two. Then, you will head to the base camp of Chulu peak via Yak Kharka. The summit from its base camp completes within a day.
On the same day of the summit, you will return to the base camp. You will retrace your path via Thorong Phedi & Thorong La (5416m). This way, you can visit Muktinath, Kagbeni, Jomsom, and take a flight to Pokhara.
