Mera Peak Climbing is truly an amazing mountaineering experience that takes you to Mera Peak (6476m). Mera Peak is a majestic mountain in the Mahalangur Himalaya section. It lies in Hinku valley, Sankhuwasabha. The peak is a famous trekking peak that has three main summits.
The first one is Mera North (6476m), Mera Central (6461m), and Mera South (6065m). Besides these three, there is also a smaller ‘Trekking Summit’. It’s visible as a distinct summit from the south but not marked as a different summit of Mera on the map.
The region was first explored by British expeditions in the early 50s. The team included Edmund Hillary, Tenzing Norgay, and others. But it was on May 20, 1953, when Col. Jimmy Roberts and Sen Tenzing first ascended Mera Central. Subsequently, other peaks were explored and ascended in later years.
Mera Peak Climbing offers various ranges of the climb. There are different routes depending on the face you climb. The standard route is from the north but there are faces like west and south of the peak. However, they are more difficult and technical. Following the standard route, you will reach the top of Mera Peak. The top provides majestic panoramas of the world's highest mountains including Mount Everest (8848m), Kanchenjunga (8586m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8485m), and Cho Oyu (8201m).
Mera Peak Climbing is also feasible for both beginners and experienced ones. Even though the route might be technical, with proper training & fitness, it is possible. All of these are the reasons why Mera Peak Climbing is a famous peak climbing choice in Nepal.
