Bhutan Paro Tsechu is one of the most ancient celebrations of the Bhutanese year. Bhutanese have been celebrating this festival since the 17th century. The history then tells us Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, the founder of the state of Bhutan started the festival. And he initiated it together with the sacred people of Paro Dzong fortress.
Since then, the locals celebrate the festival and it’s held for 5 days. It begins on the 10th day of the second Bhutanese lunar month every year. The exact dates of the festival might vary every year but it will either fall in late March or early April.

So, talking more about this festival, it also embarks the win of good over evil. Representing this theme, they are masked dance performances by monks wearing colorful costumes. Also, there is an unfurling of the silk displaying a gigantic embroidered painting. The major display happened on the last day of Paro Tsechu.
That particular painting, which is showcased, is of Guru Throngdel. Such an impressive art of Thongdrols represents their typical Buddhist artifacts and it always has been their cultural identity. The local people consider it to be so sacred that they believe a sight of Thongdrol can cleanse all sins of the viewers.
